Giuliano
Peparini.
Founder & Artistic Director
Today, after nearly three decades of creation, Giuliano Peparini is invited around the world when a project requires more than direction. It needs a vision, a language and a world of its own.
Everything he
has lived
enters the work.
“I have learned that nothing we live is ever lost. Every experience, even the most difficult one, can become the beginning of something new.”
Giuliano began performing professionally at fifteen. His journey took him from Rome to New York and Marseille, where he became Étoile under Roland Petit, and then into some of the world’s most ambitious live productions.
Movement gave him discipline, acting revealed what exists before a gesture, and dramaturgy taught him how every image belongs to a larger journey. Working at scale confirmed something essential: technology only matters when it serves a human presence.
His return to Macau in 2025 to reimagine The House of Dancing Water captures where he stands today: able to revisit an iconic work with the experience, freedom and curiosity to imagine it anew.
“When the stage becomes
immense,
I always return to the person
standing at its centre.
That is where the truth of the
work begins.”
The audience must
live it,
not simply watch it.
Giuliano begins with dramaturgy and with what the audience should carry away. He looks for the moment when movement becomes intention, when an image reveals something words cannot and when spectacle becomes personal.
This is why acting remains at the centre of his work. Around the performer, music, space, light, costume and technology are composed into one world. The stage may be immense, but its meaning must remain human.
Creation, and the responsibility
to pass it on.
Giuliano is not looking back. Through Peparini Studios, he continues to develop new productions internationally, bringing together the people and disciplines each idea requires.
The Peparini Academy grew from a dream he had carried for years. It does not teach young artists to reproduce his signature. It gives them the discipline, curiosity and freedom to understand themselves, enter professional creation and eventually carry new worlds onto the stage.
